We have just launched the Show me Wales iPhone / iPad app!
Show Me Wales is a comprehensive tourist guide to Wales including full details of hundreds of attractions, activities, places to eat, towns & villages and places to stay. With plenty of ideas about great places to visit whatever your interests, this app will be an invaluable guide to Wales. The data is fully cached on the phone so you donβt need a signal to use it.
The app allows you to plan a trip to Wales or to find nearby entries when in Wales. The search functionality allows you to:
- Choose an area
- Search near a town
- Search near your current location
- Drop a pin
- Filter the data to highlight specific interests
Each entry describes the attraction with pictures, opening times and full contact details, and if you’re looking for accommodation it even allows you to book!
If that is not enough, you can also add places to your favourites, email places of interest to your friends, and a quick link shows directions from your current location by car or on foot.

March 2, 2012So what about an Android version? Many more people would be able to use it as there are far more Android devices out there than iphones. Please sort this out as it is being touted as a smart phone app and it clearly is only an iphone app

March 7, 2012Hi Ben,
As weβre a not for profit organisation who receive no government funding, as is always the case, it comes down to financial restraints π So for the time being we were only able to produce an iphone/ipad version.
We did however produce a mobile website which compliments the app and can be used on any smart phone – have a look at m.showmewales.co.uk
We have received such a fantastic response from locals/visitors with 2000 downloads in a week! This has been a fantastic response rate and we’re so pleased with what we have achieved with our tiny office of 4 (2 of which are part time π
All I can say right now is -we’re trying so please ‘Watch This Space’ π
Thank you again for your feedback.
Kind regards
Zoe @ Mid Wales Tourism

March 7, 2012Hi Alan,
Yes did you like that? – Teething difficulties Iβm afraid. We’ve had some fun with grid references! π
The beauty of the app is that itβs completely updatable by both the businesses (using Guestlink) and ourselves here in the office, so any little glitches like this can be easily fixed.
Kind Regards

March 2, 2012I love it! It is different to another app in that area, and it has quite a few places on there from CADW which I didn’t see in any other Wales related apps out there. Agree, an Android version would be greatly appreciated, something for the future maybe? π
